We are excited to announce that the Stroke Awareness Foundation as of July 1, 2026, has officially joined AbilityPath and is now Stroke Awareness & Recovery by AbilityPath.

This new chapter brings together the Stroke Awareness Foundation’s trusted leadership in stroke education, awareness, and community outreach with AbilityPath’s comprehensive stroke recovery, rehabilitation, therapy, and support services.

Together, we now provide a more complete continuum of care for stroke survivors and their families—from prevention and early recognition through emergency response, rehabilitation, recovery, and long-term support.

While our name has evolved, our commitment remains unwavering. We will continue to improve stroke outcomes through education, advocacy, and innovation, while expanding access to the recovery services and support that help survivors regain independence and quality of life.

Continuum of Care: Awareness → Response → Recovery

  • Awareness: Educating the community on quick action and recognition of the BE FAST stroke signs and symptoms via multilingual, community-driven outreach that reduces time-to-treatment.
  • Response: Strengthening stroke systems to ensure patients are quickly routed to the right level of care — saving lives and improving outcomes.
  • Recovery: Guiding survivors and families through every step of recovery to restore independence and quality of life.

As a Partnered Organization

  • The Stroke Awareness Foundation has integrated with AbilityPath, forming the Stroke Awareness & Recovery within AbilityPath, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (EIN: 94-1156502)
  • The SAF Board of Directors have transitioned into the AbilityPath Stroke Advisory Council, providing:
    • Guidance and recommendations for Stroke Initiatives, Stroke Care, and Public Health Policy
    • Leadership of the Annual Fight Stroke Walk
    • Continued advocacy on stroke education and recovery in diverse communities

Its Stroke and Brain Injury Services support survivors in rebuilding independence, mobility, and confidence through community-based small group therapy classes and 1-on-1 services.
